A Daily Word from the Word for Tuesday, February 4, 2014
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.” – Matthew 25:1-4
While I was in my prayer time one day last month, the Lord dealt with me on procrastination and tardiness, for which I repented. Many of us tend to disregard these two spirits—and they are spirits, my brothers and sisters. The danger in the spirit of tardiness and the spirit of procrastination is found in their subtlety and deception; but nonetheless they hinder our flow in God's Holy Spirit, and they open the door to a more vicious spirit, which is the spirit of rebellion, the Jezebel spirit.
Webster’s Dictionary defines “procrastinate” as “to be slow or late about doing something that should be done: to delay doing something until a later time because you do not want to do it, because you are lazy, etc; to put off intentionally and habitually; to put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done”; and further defines “tardy” as done or happening late, delayed beyond the expected or proper time.”
Draw that hard line in the sand concerning these matters, family! Just as you can't be a “little bit pregnant,” you can't be “a little bit late,” or “a little bit behind.” Pregnant is pregnant: there are no degrees of pregnancy. Late is late. Even one minute late is still late; and being behind on your tasks is being behind, period.
The devil is crafty, and he will have us make light of these hindering spirits; and when we do, we begin the dangerous process of slowly boiling to death our spirit; and with it, our willingness, usefulness, and effectiveness for the Kingdom of God.
God is an intentional and purposeful Father. He is an on-time God. And as we are our Father’s children, going about His business, let us also be intentional, purposeful, and timely in our carrying out the Will and the work of the One whose timely, purposeful, and intentional birth, death, and resurrection snatched us out of death’s grip, and gave us eternal life.
Today, let each of us repent for entertaining and operating in these spirits. Let us come out of agreement, and renounce these ungodly indulgences. And then, take authority over them, and cast them out of us and our lives once and for all, from this day forward, and forevermore!
God is for you, my brother! He wants you to win, my sister! God bless you.
Father, we repent for serving the spirits of tardiness and procrastination. We renounce, and come out of agreement with operating in these filthy, foul, and hindering demons. Help us, Faithful Father, to operate only in Your Holy Spirit, conducting our lives with intention, purpose, accuracy, and timeliness, because we are in the business of Your business; which is Kingdom business. In Jesus Name, we thank You that we are no longer bound or hindered by destiny thieves, because we live, move, and have our being in You (Acts 17:28). Amen and Amen.
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to be intentional about everything you do and say. Be determined to “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction” (2 Timothy 4:2). And continue to fight the good fight of pressing through the opposition toward the mark of Christ; for God, your Divine Intention, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
