Be kind, generous and forgiving

Sunday February 23, 2014: It's certainly true that there is much violence, anger and mean-spiritedness in today's world, but there is also much good will and caring. A mother hands a drink to her child. A friend lends his car for the weekend. A worker fills in for a sick colleague. Small gestures, barely noticed, are so important.

Looking back at what you've endured is a good way to assure yourself that, whatever lies ahead, you'll meet it and overcome it as you have overcome things in the past. But don't dwell on the negative. Instead, remember the good times and let them inspire you.

Today is about good memories of the past, the present with all its gifts, and the future with all its wondrous opportunities. Carpe Diem. Be kind, generous and forgiving, bare in mind that everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. Indulge that feeling of generosity by doing something good for someone, no matter how small.
