Now that the youth are returning to school you likely have taken down your Christmas tree down. Some of you will pack it up and return it to the attic or garage. If you have had a fresh cut tree this season you can dispose of it and not send it to the land fill.
The city of Arvada is accepting trees at three locations again this year. The location where storm damaged trees had been accepted, at the Lutz Sports Complex 58th and Miller is the first location. Lake Arbor Lake Park 6400 Pomona Drive which is east of Wadsworth is a second location. These two locations are open for tree drop off 24-7. The City Parks Maintenance Shop at 7800 W 62nd Ave is open 7:30 to 3:30 Monday thru Friday to receive trees. Please be sure that you drop off only Christmas trees and that all trees are free of lights, ornaments, garland, wire and nails before dropping them off.
These trees will benefit all of us as you are welcome to take the mulch from the trees. It appears that they will be mulching at each location and you are welcome to shovel it up for your home consumption. As in past years any remaining mulch will be used for city projects.
The Shop location will accept trees thru January 20, 2012. The other two locations will accept trees thru Sunday January 22, 2012.
Please be mindful of the neighbors. Be sure trees are not at risk of blowing into the street.
Give yourself a pat on the back for starting the year off with doing something green for your community. Happy New Year to all.
