Make it memorable. Years from now when you and others look back on your wedding day, what will they say? What will they remember? 9 Years ago I had the privilege of turning the typical fairy tale wedding into something different and today many people are still raving about what made this wedding memorable and different. I enjoy writing so I wrote a mini script for the wedding ceremony which was the story of a Prince who was in search of his Princess.
Because I wanted the walk down the aisle to be different and not the typical "Here Comes The Bride", I had the story told by live narration to soft playing music set against candlelight. The Groom who was the Prince wanted to get married so he sought out his royal counsel (the Pastor) and he begin to walked down the aisle into the throne room with his Royal Counsel.
The story continues as he asked his close inner circle (Groom's Wedding Party) to help him find a princess. Each member of the Groom's inner circle came down the aisle and was introduced by name as a Marquis or a Duke as they went to join the prince in the throne room. The Prince's mother was introduced as the Queen of her city and state.
An announcement was made throughout the kingdom that the Prince was seeking a Princess and many ladies came from all over the kingdom. The Prince stood in the front of the throne room to receive the ladies of the wedding party, who were introduced by name as Ladies In Waiting from their respective cities and states. As each lady walked to the Prince he received them with one by one. As he was introduced he took each one by their hand and looked into their eyes and said one line, "You Are Very Beautiful, but, I Am Sorry You Are Not The One". The Junior Bridesmaid also was seeking to marry the Prince but she was found to be too young.
The Ring Bearer was the Town Cryer who ran into the throne room to announce that he had found the Princess and she was on her way. The Flower Girls were the entourage of the Princess, who were clothed in "the Disney's Princess Jasmine Costume" and entered the throne room with a trumpeted royal flurry preceding the Princess in a Golden Wagon being pulled by the older flower girl, while the younger one sat in the wagon throwing flower petals in the air as they went down the aisle before the Princess. The music then changed to a beautiful love song and the Princess (Bride) begins to walk down towards the Prince by candlelight. As she entered the throne room, the entire room began to sing in one accord the beautiful love song that was being played. The Princess was escorted to the Prince by the Baron who was her mentor (gave her away).
When the Princess arrived at the throne she curtsied before the Prince as her hand was given to him by the Baron. And the Prince said to her "You Are the One That I Have Prayed for and I Want You to Be My Wife"...It was at that point that the Royal Counsel (Pastor) of the Prince said "...and so we are gathered here today...." as the words go.
To make it very personal, the Princess Bride wore a diamond encrusted tiara which displayed her maiden name. During the ceremony there was a "Name Changing Ceremony" where she walked to her mother (the Duchess) and her mother name was removed her maiden name and then the Princess walked to her impending future mother-in-law and her new royal married name was placed in her tiara as she curtsied before both of her mothers. Also during the ceremony, in honor of those loved ones who had gone on before them, the Prince and Princess jumped the broom tying their heritage into their marriage covenant thus making this a wedding to remember.
To this day many people still talk about this wedding and tell me how memorable this wedding was because it made you laugh, cry and renew your belief in love. I still get requests for the story and many new ones to be created.
You are welcome to use my wedding story to build your most beautiful creative wedding memories, but, make it memorable to keep them talking for many years to come. Send me an update and let me know what you did to make the memories last. I look forward to hearing about your creativity.
Oh and by the way I did indeed marry my Prince, and the rest has been 9 wonderful years in the making of memorable history!!!!
