As many of you know one of the best ways to start the Thanksgiving holiday is by participating in a Turkey Trot. Turkey Trots are 5k run/ walks that take place in communities throughout the Chicagoland area.
Evidence that these races are becoming more popular is the selling out of the Naperville Turkey Trot. The capacity of 7500 was reached long before Veterans Day. For those of you that had planned to participate in this race, but were unable to register in time, below are some local, alternative races.
In Downers Grove there is the Bonfield Express Turkey Trot. Registration is still open, and more information can be found by clicking here.
Long Grove is also hosting an event on Thanksgiving morning. They are promising hot cider, beer, and a live band. More information can be found at: http://allcommunityevents.com/long_grove_turkey_trot/lgttinfo.html
Not available on Thanksgiving morning to participate in a 5k, then you should consider the Grant Park Turkey Trot. This event takes place on Saturday, November 24th, in Chicago’s historic Grant Park. Click here for more information.
