‘I could have been a contender’ – Marlon Brando ‘On the Waterfront’
TRG is noted for their winning record, major victories include, but not limited to; four Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona victories, 24 Hours at LeMans (class) win, Petit LeMans victory, a record 16 consecutive ALMS podium finishes, Rolex Series GT championships in 2005 & 2006 and a record 32 Grand-Am wins.
Exclusively partnered with AMR (Aston Martin Racing in North America) already known for their racing heritage, TRG-AMR was formed, now providing a GT4 class challenge series throughout the United States and Quebec.
Sportsman drivers wishing to contend have the opportunity to race the most popular GT4 car in the world. With over 100 built, the basis is the production Aston Martin Vantage model with a 4.7L V-8 engine and semi-automatic paddle-shift transmission.
Although the chassis is a production unit, a FIA approved roll cage is installed, along with a fuel cell (quick fill seals) for safety. Only the suspension springs, dampers and roll bars are changed to suit individual drivers and the Pirelli P-Zero Racing Slick tires. The interior trim is stripped to remove unnecessary weight. The latest version features a new aerodynamic package with an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing and front splitter to adjust down force to suit individual drivers.
As an added bonus, the Aston Martin GT4 is also homologated to compete in the Pirelli World Challenge and Continental Tire Series Championship which requires a traditional ‘H’ pattern shifter. Both the ‘H’ pattern and semi-automatic paddle-shift shifters are allowed in the new GT4 Challenge.
The overall success of the racing Aston Martin’s lies within the original design and engineering of the production models. Coupled with a TRG’s track record for preparation, The Aston Martin GT4 can be campaigned at a significant cost advantage.
