The BCS title game pairing might be settled on Dec. 7. Or the events of the SEC, Big 10 and ACC title games could leave the BCS finalists uncertain until Dec. 8. Either way, there are still many potential pairings for the BCS championship, and these are the one still in play before this final Saturday.
This would happen if the Seminoles beat the Duke Blue Devils and the Buckeyes beat the Michigan State Spartans. Yet even if the Buckeyes win, not everyone would think they should get in anyway over the SEC champs -- especially if its the Auburn Tigers.
This actually looked like a BCS nightmare for a time, and still might be. If the Buckeyes won ugly and still got in, only to face a Seminoles squad that got in before Jameis Winston was suspended, it would be the least appetizing BCS championship of all time. In fact, it might be a fitting way to end the whole controversial era. But with Winston cleared, a Seminoles-Buckeyes matchup might still have appeal.
Florida State Seminoles vs Auburn Tigers
A Buckeyes loss and an Auburn win would eliminate all the controversy, putting an SEC team back in the title game. As such, for all Winston and the Seminoles have done, they would probably be underdogs to the Tigers.
Florida State Seminoles vs Missouri Tigers
The Seminoles would probably be favored more against Missouri's Tigers, even if they knocked off Auburn. But if Missouri won, it likely couldn't jump Ohio State unless Michigan State won. At the least, it would be a rare case of a Cinderella playing for the championship.
Ohio State Buckeyes vs Auburn Tigers
For all the Buckeyes-Tigers debate, it would be moot if the Seminoles were shocked by the Blue Devils. Then if Ohio State and Auburn won, they would settle things on the field.
Ohio State Buckeyes vs Missouri Tigers
If Florida State lost and Missouri won, the Tigers wouldn't have to leap over Ohio State and could just face it.
Missouri Tigers vs Alabama Crimson Tide
With the Tide's luck, the Seminoles, Buckeyes and Auburn would all lose and give Alabama a third straight title shot after all.
Auburn Tigers vs Alabama Crimson Tide
With college football's luck, the Seminoles, Buckeyes and Missouri would all lose and pave the way for Iron Bowl II in Pasadena.
