The official Bowl Championship Series rankings aren't set to come out until Oct. 20, 2013, but there are already a number of guesses as to who will be in first. CBS Sports reported on Oct. 7, 2013, that the projected BCS standings have undefeated Alabama in first, as expected, and Clemson coming in second with Stanford a close third.
There was no denying that Alabama was going to be in the first in the rankings, but there has been some discussion as to who would be in second.
Oregon is ranked second in the current NCAA Top 25 Associated Press poll, but the projected BCS standings have the Ducks sitting in fourth. Clemson is sitting in second with a BCS average of 0.8869 and Stanford is right behind them with a BCS average of 0.8849.
The current projections have three SEC teams in the top 10 with Alabama in first, Georgia in seventh, and LSU in ninth.
There are a number of factors that go into the BCS standings including the human polls, wins, losses, and the Harrison Interactive Poll. One has to wonder how the BCS averages are computed though because these projected rankings don't make a lot of sense based off of what many know the formula is.
As of Oct. 7, 2013, the projected BCS standings are as follows:
- Ohio State
- Florida State
