BCS Bowl games announced: Florida State vs Auburn lead the way

See also

On Sunday, the BCS announced their bowl game schedule on ESPN. As you can see on Sportsline.com, there are a lot of games left to play. In addition to the five BCS bowl games, there are 30 non- BCS games starting on December 21st. There will be a breakdown of each individual game.

BCS Title Game

Florida State (13-0) vs. Auburn (12-1)

The ACC and the SEC have one final challenge to end the BCS era. The championship game has a chance to be one of the most dramatic we’ve seen since the last time Auburn made the title game.

First Thought: If Florida State dominates Auburn, the narrative will likely say that it would have been different if the Seminoles played Alabama.

Orange Bowl:

Clemson (10-2) vs. Ohio State (12-1)

Last time Clemson was in the Orange Bowl, they gave up 70 points to West Virginia. They’ll face a disappointed, yet hungry Ohio State squad that missed an opportunity to play for the national championship.

First Thought: This game is all about Tajh Boyd and Braxton Miller.

Sugar Bowl

Alabama (11-1) vs. Oklahoma (10-2)

The Sooners last second win over Oklahoma State not only won the Bedlam game, it got them an invite to the Sugar Bowl. Supposedly, Alabama will have a built in excuse if they lose. A lot of people feel they should be in the title game. Why wouldn’t they? The Crimson Tide won two straight titles with a loss.

First Thought: Hopefully this turns out to be a well played game. The Sugar Bowl got it wrong. With all the talk during the season, an Alabama, Oregon game would have been delightful.

Fiesta Bowl

Baylor (11-1) vs. UCF (11-1)

Although the names aren’t the most exclusive brand yet, this could be one of the most entertaining games during the bowl season. Blake Bortles and Bryce Petty could be setting up a tremendous run for next year’s Heisman.
First Thought: Can UCF slow down the Baylor offense early in the game?

Rose Bowl

Michigan State (12-1) vs. Stanford (11-2)

The Rose Bowl should be a classic match up of physical football in the trenches. Both teams are a couple possessions away from being undefeated. If you like defense, then this should be the game for you.

First Thought: The Rose Bowl is happy about this game. They couldn’t ask for a better traditional contest.
