Blue Cross has prepared a decrease in premiums for the Blue Advantage Plan, a popular medical/drug supplement for seniors in the state of Alabama.
In the last three years, BCBS Alabama has not been reluctant to consistently raise rates for the Blue Individual nor the Advantage plan.
In some cases, Blue Individual Plan could have been purchased in January, 2013 for $346-$382 per month with the final cost arrived at from consecutive increases over the last 3 years.
However, with two increases in three years, Alabama seniors should enjoy a decrease in their 2014 rate from $103 per month down to $72 per month effective January, 2014.
The new cost was rolled out to the public today, October 1st, and enrollment into the plan is expected begin with Medicare open enrollment on October 15th.
The new Blue Advantage rate represents a 30% decrease in the supplemental package and in many Alabama counties, is expected to be the most efficient and most thrifty plan available.
