The largest Korean owned American bank, formerly known as Nara bank, will be leasing a building in the Wilshire Colonnade, what was normally known as the Ahmanson center. The lease continues the existing lease and more room space for expansion which totals to 62,400 square feet. Locked in for ten years they are most likely paying $2 per square foot, according to the L.A. Times; so roughly $124,800 per month.
Wilshire Colonnade on the storied Wilshire Boulevard is better known as the Ahmanson center, the parent corporation to Home Savings & Loan of old. After cascading through the hands of different owners like Washington Mutual and now J.P. Morgan Chase, the iconic Ahmanson center now houses Chase bank branches. Home Savings & Loan was known for their impeccable architecture which embellished Washington Mutual branches when they eventually bought them out; now Chase branches own them and somehow the gaudy blue Chase banners contrast the beautiful architecture very poorly.
The Ahmanson buildings used the same type of Greek marble used for the Parthenon, importing tons of it from Italy. BCBN’s address is 3731 Wilshire Boulevard in mid-Wilshire near Koreatown in Los Angeles. It’s common to see Korean owned banks in the Los Angeles area. BCBN bank controls $5B in assets and has 44 full-service branches across the United States.
