The inspiration for the BCBG Max Azria spring 2014 collection is a "radical classic - the elegance of well-assumed, sure values, a daring chic." Max Azria tells WWD. The classic? A man's shirt and what ensues is 31 ways to re-imagine the shirt dress, or in this case, a crop top or a crisp white voluminous trousers. (The 32nd look was an evening gown.) The idea of the button down shirt took a fresh sense in each separate that came down the runway. Panels, cutouts, mesh fabrics brought a 21st Century modernism to the simple idea of the shirt dress. Max and Lubov Azria design easy pieces with a modern flare which draw the no-fuss and naturally chic crowd as loyal followers.
In addition to creating graphic details with mesh features in the early portion of the line up, prints in sheer fabrics as sheaths and wrap dresses closed the collection in the very familiar Azria form.
