The BCBG Max Azria pre-fall 2014 collection is inspired by utilitarian ideas using a grey, navy and dark color palette; pleated and boxy silhouettes; and mid-calf lengths indicative of early 20th Century fashions. The brilliance of Max and Lubov Azria is that the collection, while utilitarian in aesthetic, is quite light and soft in the signature Azria design. Skirts, parachute and column dresses are airy despite the heavy appearance of the fabric.
Dresses which looked trimmed in lace are actually a lace print. The effects of the prints are gorgeous patterns and elegant designs. Other fabrics are prints of an industrial pattern lending a heavier look than the actual garment. The pullovers are printed with a neoprene look but are light weight knits with high fronts, voluminous cuts which are layered over blouses and coupled with long flared skirts.
There were dozens of brilliant design surprises like a column dress with a short "winged" back or a column dress with a leather crop piece. The clever Azria design element was in every detail which will delight to the BCBG woman.
