Boston Center for Adult Education will take students outside the classroom once again through their innovative “Behind the Curtain” series on Friday, March 22! Students are offered unique opportunities to travel to various Boston performing arts venues, go backstage to meet the cast, and learn about how an incredible stage performance is put together. Just a few of the productions that BCAE students have had the honor of attending is the Speakeasy Stage show ‘Next to Normal,’ The Huntington Theatre Company’s production of ‘Good People,’ the Boston Opera House’s musical, ‘Mamma Mia, ’ and Boston’s outdoor venue in the Boston Common for a dramatic Shakespeare in the Park with the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company.
Ever listened to an aria and wondered about its origins?? On Friday, March 22, BCAE is venturing into the captivating world of opera with ‘Opera 101: Behind the Curtain with the Boston Lyric Opera’ at the Boston Center for Adult Education at 6 p.m. Kick off the evening with champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and a fascinating presentation given by Nicholas Russell, Director of Artistic Operations of the Boston Lyric Opera. He will usher students into the lavish, powerful world of opera and give insight into its deeper meaning.
After the presentation, students will attend a stunning Italian opera at the Shubert Theatre at 265 Tremont Street in Boston, Massachusetts. Mozart’s ‘Cosi fan Tutte’ is a splendid beachside love story sung in English which depicts the complicated nature of love.
