One of the latest classes offered by Boston Center for Adult Education is a musical theatre workshop, which is being taught by Speakeasy Outstanding artist and actor/singer Kerry Dowling and Independent Reviewer of New England Award Winner (IRNE) and cabaret performer Brian Patton. Six sessions will be offered from Tuesday, July 15 through Tuesday, August 19, offering one on one training to students looking to enhance their vocal and dramatic skills. Students should have previous singing experience and be prepared with a theatre song or two for a solo piece.
Another highlight of the summer season features classes built for fans of contemporary and classic films in August! Exploring the beloved romantic classic, ‘Casablanca,’ and the acclaimed contemporary romantic comedy-drama, ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,’ each film will be taught for three weeks with an in-depth study on how these films were made, a scene by scene analysis, and what makes them extraordinary.
‘What Makes a Hollywood Classic: Casablanca’ will be offered every Monday from July 14 through July 28 at 6:30 p.m. ‘What Makes a Cult Classic: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ takes place from August 4 through August 18 at 6:30 p.m. Both classes are taught by movie reviewer and instructor at MIT, Stephen Brophy.
As the oldest nonprofit education center in New England, BCAE offers 2,000 classes each year. Learn something new or brush up on skills in categories such as the Arts, Food, Cooking, Fitness, Languages, and classes for children.
