Mechele Lanthier Wilson, founder of The Pink Whisker, is having an online sale of her unique handcrafted jewelry. The Canadian jewelry designer says that100% of the profits go to animals that need to be sterilized. The Pink Whisker is a voluntary organization run by Mechele. She donates the money for rescuing sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and companion animals. She explains that she uses the money for veterinary treatment when necessary and care for and the rehabilitation of animals until they can be released or re-homed.
“ I am doing to help my community. I would love to expand it everywhere but of course I do not have the funds yet.”
Mechele has the vision of one day being able to set up a "trade" program with those in need for the care of their animals. She gives the example that if a person may need their dog spayed, then they would have to spend (10-20) hours at their local shelter to volunteer with simple tasks, like brushing the cats, cleaning litter boxes or pens. “That is my vision but at this point all I can do is donate to people that are in need now and be satisfied with the thought that there will be a few less puppies or kittens in this world.”
