It’s the last day of Vancouver’s popular BC Home & Garden Show at BC Place Stadium and there’s still plenty to explore including some environmentally-friendly home options.
“I would recommend checking out both the BC Hydro Power Smart booth and the Smart Renovation Dream Home. They are both eco-friendly features,” reports Amanda Haines, PR representative for the show. The themes this year are Renew, Refresh, Renovate - which includes a number of eco-conscious businesses at the event.
One of the other booths to check out is ReStore/Habitat for Humanity that receives new and used building materials donated by homeowners, contractors, retailers and manufacturers, and sells them to the public at greatly reduced costs. Money raised goes towards building homes for families in need.
Norwex EviroProducts is another green business at the show. Their personal care and cleaning products aim to improve the quality of life by reducing the use of chemicals. They have created an environmentally friendly concept of Clean without Chemicals.
Terratek Energy Solutions, at the show, is a renewable energy services contractor in BC specializing in design, sales and installation for solar hot water, solar electric, wind, geothermal and electric vehicle charging stations.
BC Hydro Power Smart reps are also on hand to talk about Energy Star appliances, efficient lighting and other tips for greening your home.
Celebrity chefs, dream gardens, home decorating tips, fashion items – there’s a lot to choose from. According to Show Manager Jill Kivett: “The BC Home and Garden Show is the most trusted resource for every home improvement project, inside and out – while providing insight and inspiration for making every house a home.”
