Throughout the year, Atlanta is one of the tennis capitals of the world.

From league play, to tournaments held, and just the buzz that tennis generates in the area makes Atlanta a great tennis city.

Things are about to get even better.

With the addition of two more signed players, the 2014 BB&T Atlanta Open is shaping up to have it's best player field in history.

Now in its fifth year, the BB&T Atlanta Open has landed two players with top-20 resumes: Sam Querrey and Gael Monfils. Neither player has ever competed in the BB&T Atlanta Open, which runs July 19-27, at Atlantic Station.

“With the edition of Sam and Gael, this is arguably one of the strongest fields we’ve ever had,” Tournament Director and Chief Development Officer Eddie Gonzalez noted. “Gael is the one of the highest ranked European players we’ve ever hosted. Additionally, his crowd-pleasing athleticism and outgoing personality are other great reasons to come out and see him play. His diverse background fits into our city, which in known for its diversity and international reach.”

The French player says he is looking forward to bringing his exciting style of play to Atlanta.

"I like to play for a full crowd and I like to play on American hardcourts," noted Monfils. "What I've heard about Atlanta, makes me want to play there."

Monfils has already had a strong showing in 2014 at the Australian Open.

Querrey is a popular American player who has won seven ATP World Tour titles. He also is a regular on the U.S. Davis Cup team and he's already looking forward to a possible encounter with his good buddy and defending champion, John Isner.

“I’m really looking forward to playing Atlanta for the first time. I know John Isner, whom I’ve won two doubles titles with, has had great success there, and I want to go head-to-head with him and the rest of the field.”
