Bayou Wildlife Zoo offers an up-close zoo experience like none other in the area. As part of their admission price, families can take a 45-minute exotic animal tram ride, enjoy the Children’s Barnyard, picnic area, pony ride, and petting zoo. The zoo is over 86 acres and is located between Dickinson and Alvin at 5050 FM 517 in Alvin. Animals in the zoo come from Africa, India, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.
The zoo is a member of the Exotic Wildlife Association and operated by Animals of the Earth, Inc. They are licensed by U.S.D.A.-U.S.D.I., Galveston Country, and the Texas Parks & Wildlife.
Their fall hours of operation (August 1 to February 28) are from Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their spring and summer hours (March 1 to August 1) are daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $20 for adults (ages 12 and up) and $10 for children (ages two through 11). Children under two are free. In addition, buckets of food to feed to the animals are available for $2.50, and there is a new souvenir shop. Only checks and cash are accepted, no credit cards.
The zoo does not allow cooking, but lunch/snacks and drinks are allowed. No pets, alcoholic beverages, balloons, or watermelons are allowed.
