The injuries have already started for the Angels, and this one hurts a little more than usual.
Hitting coach Don Baylor, donning the familiar #25 in the home whites for the first time since the end of the 1982 American League Championship Series, sustained a leg injury while catching the ceremonial first pitch from fellow AL MVP Vladimir Guerrero during activities before the Angels faced off against the Seattle Mariners.
The 64-year-old was crouching to receive Guerrero's toss when he injured the leg, then either aggravated it or suffered a second injury while trying to get up after the initial injury.
Baylor was then helped off the field and taken down State College Boulevard to UCI Medical Center in Orange to get his leg looked at.
The 1979 AL MVP with the Angels, Baylor was set to make his regular season debut as the Halos' hitting coach after being hired by general manager Jerry DiPoto in the offseason.
