Baylor Bears control Oklahoma State Cowboys, 64-54

The Baylor Bears defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Monday, 64-54.

The Cowboys struck first as freshman guard Marcus Smart drilled a 3-pointer to start the game. The Bears responded and jumped to a 10-point lead with 7:37 to go in the first half. Oklahoma State then went on a 13-2 run with Le'Bryan Nash scoring 10 out of the 13 points.

The Cowboys led 28-27 at the half, but the Bears hit three 3-pointers in the first four minutes and senior point guard Pierre Jackson hit back to back 3-pointers and a layup to give the Bears their second 10-point lead of the game. Baylor maintained control of the game with great defense and inside play by Cory Jefferson and Isaiah Austin and did not allow the Cowboys to get close for the remainder of the game.

Jackson led the Bears with 18 points. Austin and Jefferson both added double-doubles as Jefferson had 11 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks, and Austin racked up 10 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks. The Bears did struggle at the line, making only 14 out of 26 free throw attempts.

Nash led the Cowboys with 24 points. Smart added 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

The Bears moved to 13-5 and 4-1 in Big 12 play while the Cowboys dropped to 12-5 and 2-3 in the Big 12.

Baylor's next game is against TCU on Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. (ET). Oklahoma State will face West Virginia on Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. (ET).
