Death Angel were one of the heralded second-wave of Bay Area thrash metal bands alongside the likes of equally seminal giants like Testament, Vio-Lence and Forbidden. The band had barely hit puberty when they made their notable entrance into a Bay Area thrash scene swarming with innovative bands. Guitarist Rob Cavestany founded Death Angel in Concord, California in 1982. Originally, the band was a more traditional metal outfit, but the burgeoning thrash scene led the group down a heavier, faster path full of twisted and aggression-laden musical musings.
The band would work with guitarist Kirk Hammett (Metallica, Exodus) on their demo, “Kill As One”. The underground tape-trading scene built the band a sizable audience on both coasts. This led to the release of the Death Angel's debut album, “The Ultra-Violence” in 1987 on Enigma Records. They were all still teens at the time. That debut album was recently re-issued as it had been out-of-print for a number of years.
In 1988, the band released its sophomore effort, the even more thrash oriented, “Frolic Through the Park” which launched the single “Bored” and contained a cover of the KISS classic, “Cold Gin”. Their third album, “Act III” would be released in 1990 before the band took a 10 year hiatus.
Death Angel made its return a decade later, releasing another four albums including its latest studio effort, “The Dream Calls for Blood” which is a testament to the solidification and cohesiveness of their signature sound.
"Full of adventurous thrash and a new generation attitude, Boise's Krystos punches the scene with their new metallic twist. Influenced by the modern European power metal and classic thrash bands, Krystos stands out from the pack with their consistent dedication to touring, writing, and expanding their ever growing fan base. Releasing "Walk Through the Inferno" worldwide on Amazon, Itunes, Rhapsody, and Zune and also back to back tours have proven that Krystos have achieved many things since emerging as a full band in 2010, and have only just begun."
Since forming in 1997, XEX has carved a distinct path in the Northwest music scene by providing a supercharged live show, plus a unique combination of style and attitude. XEX has released four CDs: three full length CDs, plus a tribute EP - which offers five of XEX's popular cover tunes, plus two uniquely released originals. Characterized by the precise and immediate sound of a trio, XEX's music defies generic description, while displaying only the originality of an uncompromised musical vision. The result is an eclectic blend of harmonic, melodic, and percussive characteristics which are forged into a fusion of progressive rock and aggressive metal.
