The latest and greatest addition to the Bay Area Family Fitness chain of quality fitness centers is hosting a gala open house on Saturday, January 7, from 5-9 P.M. Located at 1035 E. Capitol Avenue in the Gould Shopping Center in San Jose (corner of Capitol and McLaughlin), the newest Bay Area Family Fitness Center has been under construction since early August 2011 and will officially open for workouts at 5:00 A.M. on Monday, January 9.
This “sneak preview” of the new facility will give members and guests the opportunity to see one of the one of the largest and well-equipped fitness centers anywhere in the world before it opens. With almost 40,000 square feet of exercise space, this giant club offers a virtual smorgasbord of fitness amenities with something for everyone.
The main exercise floor boasts more than 150 pieces of the latest high tech cardiovascular training equipment including Matrix treadmills with their unique impact absorption system and dynamic response drive system; Climbmills with Ergo Form™ Grips with integrated pause/stop and resistance controls to enhance comfort and make it easier to make workout changes on the fly; upright and recumbent stationary bikes; ellipticals with variable incline and constant rate of acceleration; and the amazing Krankcycle upper body ergometer.
Adjacent to the massive array of cardio equjpment are dozens of selectorized G-7 single station strength machines by Matrix and a similar number of both cable (ADA compliant) and Epic lines of FreeMotion resistance equipment.
Free weights? Without any exaggeration, the free weight room is a throwback to the old–fashioned hardcore gym. It is a virtual paradise for the serious lifter or bodybuilder with more than 140 dumbbells from 5 lbs. to 200 lbs, bench presses, incline benches, decline benches, shoulder press benches, power racks, squat racks, and more grips, handles, and bars than you can shake a stick at.
Group exercise enthusiasts will relish the three separate group exercise studios with more than 200 classes a month in Zumba, Yoga, Tai Chi, Mat Pilates, Spinning, Body Blast, U-Jam, Cardio Kickboxing, and more.
There is also a Kids Zone – a special area for children 6 months to 12 years to stay active and occupied while mom and dad are exercising, and special Kid-Fit classes are available to introduce youngsters to the joy of physical activity. There is even a separate study room connected to the Kids Zone where kids can do their homework.
Personal training? You bet. The facilitative training studio for one-on-one and small group training features the best in personal training services including the revolutionary TRX Suspension Training system.
The open house will feature free tours of the facility and free refreshments and is open to the public.
