Bay Area Family Fitness Center (BAFFC), celebrated the official grand opening of its first new facility in Park Lane Plaza at 5278 Moorpark Ave (corner of Moorpark and Lawrence Expressway) in San Jose. The company, which took over the space previously abandoned by fitness giant 24-Hour Fitness last April, invested more than $250,000 in interior renovations and installed more than $300,000 of the latest fitness equipment including the revolutionary FreeMotion Incline Trainer with the innovative cushioning technology that burns more calories than the traditional treadmill proving that – well, a treadmill isn’t just a treadmill anymore after you try this.
Other equipment includes elliptical trainers, upright and recumbent stationary bikes, resistance training equipment, free weights, and much more.
Perhaps the most exciting innovation at the new club is Facilitative Training – unique semi-private personal training where members work out in small groups of not more than 8 people under the direction of a certified personal trainer for a fraction of the cost of regular one-on-one training. In addition to the obvious cost benefits, clients benefit from a trainer’s expertise and from the camaraderie and energy of sharing the experience with a small group of like-minded individuals.
“The results of Facilitative Training (FT) are amazing,” according to Personal Training Vice President Jeff Corbett who first introduced FT at his personal training studio in Atlanta before bringing it to the Bay Area. “FT incorporates some of the same dynamics as traditional group exercise classes – such as aerobics, Zumba, step, and so forth – but the smaller more intimate groups of Facilitative Training under the watchful eye of a trainer make it far more effective. It isn’t as easy or as lax as the more familiar group classes because you can’t hide in the back of the room and go along with the flow hoping nobody will see you,” he laughs. “You can’t get lost in the crowd – because there isn’t one - and the trainer is working with you every step of the way to make sure that you are not just going through the motions.”
“We are excited about the number of people who have already signed up for Facilitative Training,” says BAFFC Co-Manager Oluliana Trofimenko. “Many of them have tried one-on-one personal training before but simply couldn’t afford it. Now they can enjoy the same kind of results for about one-tenth the cost!”
The Moorpark location is the first of several BAFF centers projected to open in the near future according to BAFFC President Dave Morrison. “We expect to announce several new locations in the coming months,” says Morrison, who has owned and operated successful health clubs all over the U.S. for more than 32 years.
The new club is open Monday - Thursday from 5:00 A.M. – 11:00 P.M., Friday 5:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M., Saturday from 7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M., and Sunday 7:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. For further information, readers can call 408-533-0625.
