Just weeks after the grand opening of the first Bay Area Family Fitness Center (BAFFC) in San Jose, BAFFC President Dave Morrison announced that his company has commenced construction of a second health club location - also in San Jose – in the Gould Shopping Center at the intersection of McLaughlin Ave and E. Capitol Expressway.
The newest facility will be located in the 40,000 square foot former Rite Aid building which Rite Aid recently vacated to move into separate and adjacent free-standing building in the same center. In the meantime, the company has opened a pre-sale office - temporary headquarters where local residents can enroll at discounted membership rates before the club opens – in the former Blockbuster building.
Renovations will convert the former drug store into a full-service health club including fitness area complete with a variety of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, personal training studio, kids club, locker rooms, and spa area with whirlpool and sauna. The club will also feature three group exercise studios with more than 200 classes every month including yoga, tai chi, cardio kickboxing, step aerobics, spinning, and Zumba.
“This will be a spectacular facility,” says Sales Manager and industry veteran Tre Fitzgerald. “We think the community will be very excited when we are finished.”
Construction is expected to take several months to complete. “If everything goes according to plan, we hope to be open around the holidays,” says Morrison, “in time for everyone to make their New Year’s resolutions.”
Meanwhile, the preview center is equipped with a full line of FreeMotion Strength Training equipment, and members have the option of exercising at the preview center while construction is being completed or waiting until the full facility is finished.
