You don't have to have a drop of German blood in you to enjoy the free 31st annual GermanFest Picnic being held at Carillon Park in Dayton, Ohio on Friday, August 8, Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10.
GermanFest Picnic Celebrating German heritage and traditions, this family-friendly event will feature all things German (including authentic food and music) and will offer fun activities for all ages to enjoy.
Among the activities being offered are a Bavarian fashion show, a 5K Run & Walk, live continuous musical entertainment (with performers like Pros't, Alpine Echoes, Organ Grinder Ted, Alphorn Gruzie and the Chardon Polka Band), craft vendors displaying their wares, and a Kidz Zone with games and amusement rides.
There will also be a German Import Haus offering authentic German merchandise.
Of course, there will be a Biergarten (with a large selection of German draft and bottled beer) and a Weingarten (where German wines will be available for tasting). You must be at least 21 years of age to partake of the beer and wine.
Don't miss the Keg Tapping on Friday at 6:30 p.m. during the Festival's opening ceremony.

This year's Heritage Booth will feature the exhibit "Augsburg and Dayton - Sister Cities for 50 Years."
The GermanFest Picnic wouldn't be complete without lots and lots of authentic German food. Among the items offered for purchase are Schnitzel dinners, German potato salad, brats, metts, Wurstsalat and cabbage rolls, not to mention assorted German desserts.
Hours for the GermanFest Picnic are 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday, noon - 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon - 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. On-site parking is available for $2.
