Bautista homers as Blue Jays beat Phillies 4-3

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 in their first game of the 2014 Grapefruit League season on Wednesday led behind a first inning home run by RF Jose Bautista.

The team scattered eight hits in the game which was later called off due to rain following just over two hours of play.

Bautista, who homered to left-field on a 2-0 count in the third AB of the game, went 1-2 overall with two runs scored and a walk.

While pinch-hitting for Rasmus, Moises Sierra tripled in the first and LF Melky Cabrera, 1B Edwin Encarnacion, CF Colby Rasmus, and 2B Chris Getz all chipped in with hits.

Pitcher J.A. Happ allowed two runs, four hits, and one walk while striking out three in one inning of work.

R.A. Dickey will take the mound on Thursday against Phillies starter Cliff Lee. Dickey will be followed by Esmil Rogers, Dustin McGowan, Brett Cecil, Aaron Loup, Jeremy Jeffress, Rob Rasmussen and Marcus Walden, MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki reported.
