During his weekly Angelus address on Sunday, Pope Francis reflected upon the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness, stating, “The tempter tries to divert Jesus from the Father’s plan, that is, from the path of sacrifice, of love that offers itself in expiation, to make Him take an easy road, a road of success and power.”
In his sermon we were reminded how the Darkside manifests in this world, causing disruption in our lives and acts to distract us from our true path.
There is a spiritual relationship between human beings and the Dark. Ephesians 6:10-12 says we must put on the Armor of God,
"10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Ceaselessly, subtlety, it encroaches into our lives, tempting and deceiving us along the way. Individuals are not the Dark’s only target. It manifests in global society as well.
Discernment is an invaluable tool to develop in your life. Thoughtful pauses and time for prayer as you go upon your way will help you realign yourself in a positive direction.
The Darkness desires to disrupt our way as a species, trying to prevent our redemption. Being aware of this is a tremendous step in taking away some of the Dark’s power.
The best lie out there is that there is no Devil. If you don’t believe there is evil coming after you, you will leave yourself open to manipulation.
Be watchful, pay attention for the usual tricks and don’t let vanity lead to your downfall. The Darkside will play with illusions and use your weaknesses against you. By shining light on to the situation all illusions will disappear.
