DICE’s mammoth war shooter would like to remind you that there is still a story to explore outside of the multiplayer carnage. Oh, and you can punch dogs too.
Battlefield 4 has released its official single player story trailer, DICE studio revealed today. And as if to mock rival first-person-shooter, blockbuster, Call of Duty: Ghosts, featured in the footage is a marine punching a canine.
CODG has touted its implementation of tactical dog use for stealth and attack play since the title was announced. The dog, dubbed Riley, has been one of game’s selling hooks.
Publisher Electronic Arts and developer DICE’s trailer highlights their “hook and jab” (so to speak): Who needs dogs when you have an explosive, cinematic story to tell? The dog scoff may just be a coincidence and if so it’s a well timed accident if we’ve ever seen one.
The actual scene is brisk and brief, viewable towards the end of the trailer. As for the story campaign, it’s not really clear what the narrative is all about outside of the obvious: Conflict has arisen, bullets and destruction to ensue. However, the video exhibits an impressive array of set pieces and astounding explosions, and is expected to best the forgettable story mode in Battlefield 3.
Battlefield 4 is scheduled to release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on Oct. 29. Call of Duty Ghosts will launch one week later on Nov. 5.
