Electronic Arts and DICE revealed the newest multiplayer map Tuesday at Gamescom for Battlefield 4 on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Players will get to experience an island hopping campaign in the South China sea when the game releases this October.
The Paracel Storm map is based on the real life Paracel Islands in the South China Sea and appears to bring the same mix of air, ground and sea gameplay that made Wake Island such a popular map in previous Battlefield titles. Despite being island based, the "Levolution" gameplay concept from DICE comes into play here as players have to deal with changing landscape such as a destroyer running aground and the seas becoming rougher mid-match.
DICE also announced the new "Obliteration" gametype during the EA Gamescom press conference that pits two teams on a mission to destroy each other's objectives.
Battlefield 4 will be released on Oct. 29 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC with the PS4 and Xbox One releases coming later. Details on Battlefield 4 Premium and the beta prior to launch were also announced today.
