New details emerged about "Battlefield 4" and its new DLC named Naval Strike on Saturday. One of the biggest new game modes to come with the DLC is something called "Carrier Assault." This new game mode harkens back to a much earlier game in the series, "Battlefield 2142."The point of this new content is to obliterate your enemy's carrier before your enemy can obliterate yours.
Gustav Halling, a lead gameplay designer explained how this new "Battlefield 4" content will play out:
So how is a match of Carrier Assault played out? There are two ways of destroying the enemy carrier: either by full map control or assaulting the carrier as infantry. Each round is divided into 2 stages, starting with map control and ending with carrier attack. Both teams start on their own carrier and race to control the missile launchers placed on the map, by capturing the control points near them. This will automatically launch missiles towards the enemy carrier throughout the round, eventually destroying its hull and making it open for infantry attacks.
When this happens for one or both teams, the carrier assault state is started. The team can then either drive a boat out to the carrier and climb aboard, or use the parachute spawn points above it. Once inside, the team must destroy two M-COM stations, which will open up new areas to the carrier, with the engine room being the final one.
Destroying the two M-COM’s, or bringing down the carrier hull’s health to 0%, will win the match for your team.
This new "Battlefield 4' content is set to be released to "Battlefield" premium members at the end of March.
The other big piece of news to surface this weekend was that a new "Battlefield 4" patch fixed some issues but brought along brand new problems as well.
Gamingbolt reported on Sunday the latest "Battlefield" patch has done some damage to Battlelog ranks first and foremost. "Battlefield 4" players won't see rankings listed above 110. Once a rank goes to 111 or more, the game basically resets you to 'O.'
Another "Battlefield 4" bug is that the killcam will now not accurately report who killed you when fighting in multiplayer mode. Other annoying bugs include:
- Laser sight dots getting stuck
- Jet cannons seemingly unharming other jets with their cannons
- Inability to cycle through team-mates spectating on Defuse
- The borderless window, a recurring problem
The list of "Battlefield" bugs continues to be a problem and is not limited to the ones reported here. For a full list of the problems "Battlefield 4" is suffering go here.
Earlier problems with this latest "Battlefield" have long been detailed and catalogued and the game continues to have problems that infuriate "Battlefield 4" players.
The game launched with some issues that almost made "Battlefield 4" nearly unplayable for next generation consoles. It seems as if the development team is going to have to continue to fix quite a bit before "Battlefield" players are content.
