Battle in the Bowls at Aspen Highlands on March 30

Teams of two will race to ski/ride the various bowls of Aspen Highlands as quickly and strategically as possible on a course designed by Aspen/Snowmass athlete Chris Davenport on March 30.

"Battle in the Bowls is a favorite for explorers, hard charging athletes and weekend warriors that love Aspen Highlands and its amazing terrain," said John Rigney, vice president of sales and events, Aspen Skiing Company.

In the competitive skiing/riding division of the race athletes will battle their own limits and challenge themselves against other teams of two skiers in an effort to cover the course as quickly as possible. The race will also have a recreational division, where the course will be different but still feature elements of the competitive course.

Course details will not be released until race day, but Highland Bowl will be a mandatory component for both divisions and the course is meant to be covered in less than 4.5 hours. Athletes can take any route they desire as long as they complete every run listed. Flaik GPS devices track the athletes as they charge across the mountain. Each team’s final time is an average of its members’ times.

Registration is now open at www.aspensnowmass.com/events-and-activities/events/battle-in-the-bowls. Registration is $90 per team of two and includes a Helly Hansen Battle in the Bowls base layer for the first 150 participants and an afterparty.

The Helly Hansen Battle in the Bowls is part of the 13th annual Bud Light Spring Jam, featuring concerts, competitions and parties. For more information about the Bud Light Spring Jam, go to www.aspensnowmass.com/springjam.

Bud Light Spring Jam Sponsors include Bud Light, Sprint, Helly Hansen, Town of Snowmass Village, GoPro, Coke, Clif Bar and GMC.
