This year marks 200 years since the Battle of Tippecanoe. Although the anniversary is usually re-enacted at Fort Knox II in Vincennes, this year it is in Tippecanoe County.
Re-enactors will be at Battlefield Park and Prophetstown SP.
Instead of tickets for this event, wrist bands will be issued. 5$ per person. The wrist bands include admission to both sites as well as a free shuttle bus between the sites. For this event, the state park gate fee is waived. There are no advance sales. You may park in town, but there is more parking available at the state park. Parking is free.
Saturday, November 5th ceremonies begin at Historic Prophetstown at 9AM. Various programs are scheduled throughout the day, including the Indian village. Closing at 5PM. There is a march from the state park to the Battlefield at 9:15AM.
The Battlefield site opens at 9AM, first ceremony at 9:45 as the marchers from Prophetstown arrive. Programs will be throughout the day until 5PM.
On Sunday, November 6, official hours are 9AM to 4PM. Battlefield park 9AM colors, first program 10AM. Prophetstown is open 9AM to 4PM, first program 10:30.
Food booths, 1812 militia re-enactors, native re-enactors and craftsmen will be featured in this event.
On Monday, November 7 there will be an official commemoration at Battlefield Park from 10:45 to 12 noon. During this memorial, wreaths will be laid for lost warriors on both sides. Harrison HS band will be on hand. Speakers will address the battle and its ramifications. This event is free.
This event will be different from the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon. The Feast is a time line event from 1720’s to 1790’s. This event is specific to Nov.7, 1811.
