Batterskull paints a vivid picture of equipment excellence in Magic: The Gathering’s New Phyrexia. Occupying mythic rarity space, Batterskull is likely to find a home in constructed play and is absolutely gamebreaking in Limited formats of all stripes.

Equipped creature gets +4/+4 and has vigilance and lifelink.

Equip 5
Batterskull is effectively the living weapon to rule them all, a recurring wrecking ball that will wear down any opponent while replenishing your own life.
This creature-carting contraption can win a game all by itself, and with friends like Stoneforge Mystic around to ship it to the field with disturbing speed, expect to be seeing plenty of skulls being battered come New Phyrexia.
Batterskull can even protect itself from removal if you’ve got mana around, and if the creature attached to this hulking horror is ever removed by spells, combat, or even chump blocking for 4 life – a quick 3 mana snaps the Batterskull back to your hand ready to come back into play fully charged with a new Germ.
Batterskull is by far and away one of the cards you will want to see when you’re cracking open your New Phyrexia packs in any kind of Limited environment, and can (and will) win you plenty of games outright.
Outside of a foil mythic residing in the same pack, you’re always going to want to first pick this miracle equipment that offers unlimited creatures, unlimited creature enhancement, and vigilant lifegain.
Like all bombs, there is at least a glimmer of hope if your opponent happens to procure one through the many forms of artifact removal available in Scars of Mirrodin block, but you’ll have to be careful playing around the return to hand effect – don’t let this Batterskull stick for more than a turn or you’re going to be playing under the gun for the rest of what will likely be a very short game.
