According to Cinema Blend on Dec. 20, it appears that costume designer Michael Wilkinson will be making an adjustment to Superman's suit for the upcoming Zack Snyder film "Batman vs.Superman". Wilkinson, who also worked with David O. Russell on "American Hustle", gave some insight one what to expect for Superman's new look.
Wilkinson did not reveal any specifics, but he did give an idea of what's going on with the filming in regards to the costume. He had expressed that they are coming to the end of their tests and are nearing the beginning of production.
"We are now in the stage where we’re refining our designs with the last series of camera tests and doing our final tweaks in preparation for shooting".
One may also look at this from a marketing aspect, considering that merchandising is a big deal for a film franchise, it would be wise to make such a costume tweak because there would be point to churn out action figures for the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman" film when they'll wind up still looking like the characters from the "Man of Steel".
It can only speculated that the red underwear may make a reappearance or perhaps that a simple texture change could mark the new trademark for the continuing franchise.
"Batman vs. Superman" opens in theaters on July 17, 2015.
