On Friday, Warner Bros. announced that Jeremy Irons has been officially cast to play the part of Alfred Pennyworth and Jesse Eisenberg is slated to play Lex Luthor in the upcoming film tentatively titled (by no official record) "Batman Vs. Superman."
Upon hearing the news that Ben Affleck was cast as the latest portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman, fans went into an uproar, going so far as to petition Affleck to step down from the role. This news has boasted about the same reaction from fans all over social media platforms.
The newest set release date is for May 6, 2016, having been pushed back from the original July, 2015 slot, so no one will know for certain how the Eisenberg and Affleck will tackle their latest roles for some time.
Commenters have cited Daredevil, as a reference to Affleck's acting abilities in the superhero role, although "Batman Vs. Superman" will release a full 13 years after that picture, and Affleck has certainly improved since that time. As for Eisenberg, his role as Facebook co-creator Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, and Columbus in Zombieland may still be fresh on the minds of many moviegoers as trending comments center around his youthful appearance and "unmenacing" demeanor.
Zack Snyder will be directing the film, with a screenplay by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David S. Gover. On another note, Gal Gadot is coming on for the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, and the feature will reunite the cast of Man Of Steel, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane.
