'Batman' shows up at London police station with criminal in hand

Did someone fire up the Bat Signal in London?

According to March 4 AP Report, a man dressed as the Caped Crusader caught and turned in a burglar to a police station in Northern London.

West Yorkshire Police said the identity of Batman remains a mystery. Appearing in complete, although dated, Batman regalia, the individual turned in 27-year-old suspect Monday in Bradford, England to the Trafalgar House station.

"The person who brought the wanted man into the station was dressed in a full Batman outfit," a spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said. "His identity, however, remains unknown."

CCTV images released by police show video of Batman standing alongside and having a casual conversation with a man in sweatshirts, hands in pocket. The superhero was dressed in an early batman getup – light gray pants and top, a short navy cape and matching navy wrist bands, emblazoned with the bright yellow bat insignia. Although wearing a hood, Batman’s face is fully revealed.

The costume was not quite complete. It appears Batman is wearing sneakers, lacking a utility belt, and does not have the iconic bat "ears" atop his hood. No word on if he drove up in the Batmobile.

The costumed crime-fighter fled into the night without leaving his real name.

The suspect will appear in court on March 8. He is charged with handling stolen goods and fraud-related offenses.
