New Batman title set in early era of career. Details on new gadget and 1 v 100 mode revealed.
As the title suggests, Batman: Arkham Origins takes place in year two of the canon, WB Games Montreal told vg247 today. For those unfamiliar, this period is pre-Gordon’s confidence, hence The Dark Knight is still a very wanted man.
According to Creative Director Eric Holmes, Gotham’s police force is under heavy corruption, leaving the city rampant with crime. Also noted is the premature relationship between Joker and Batman, which has yet to become what it is known as today. Meaning, players will see the characters first meeting.
WB Games also unveiled a new power glove gadget, granting Batsy more attack power that can be recharged when punching shock stick wielding goons, allowing longer combo chains. This new gadget also unlocks combative skills and can break enemy shields.
Among the most interesting features illustrated, was the 1 vs 100 mode; a survival challenge pitting you against 100 baddies. You can play as either Batman or Deathstroke. The latter of which utilizes guns, explosives and melee weapons.
Batman: Arkham Origins launches for all major platforms on October 25th of this year.
