The latest trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins gives players a broader look at the upcoming struggles facing the Dark Knight, including revealing yet another of the eight assassins that will pursue Batman throughout the course of the game.
Firefly, the latest assassin, is seen launching an aerial attack on Batman with the help of a jet-pack and a flamethrower. Together with the Joker, Bane, Black Mask, Deathstroke, and Copperhead that totals seven, leaving one more villain yet to be introduced.
Aside from the rampant combat the trailer showcased Alfred (Batman's loyal assistant) prominently within the high-tech batcave. Alfred's criticism of Batman as: "...a young man with a trust fund and too much anger" are quite telling, showing the audience that Alfred isn't quite on board with Wayne's decision and doesn't quite feel he's skilled enough for the task yet.
Batman is also shown having a tense exchange with James Gordon, the future commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department. In the altercation, Gordon attempts to draw his gun on Batman before being disarmed. The Dark Knight attempts to explain that he's there to help, yet Gordon is reluctant to believe it as armed officers storm their position.
Perhaps the most interesting part of trailer is near the very beginning featuring Bane, the juiced-up antagonist famous in the comics for breaking Batman's spine. In a short span of time Bane is seen lifting the Batman above his head, ready to drop him and deliver the infamous blow that comics fans are all too familiar with. If this plays into the narrative it is possible Batman might not be the only playable character, as most iterations of the incident show Batman finding a temporary replacement.
Arkham Origins will release on October 25 for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U. Pre-orders are currently open at all major Tucson stores, as well as online electronics retailers.
