'Batman: Arkham Knight' revealed as next gen Batman game

Courtesy of Game Informer, the fate of the beloved Arkham series has been revealed. Batman: Arkham Knight will be released later this year exclusively for next gen: Xbox One, PS4, and PC as well. Wii U is not included, unfortunately.

Unlike 2013's Arkham Origins, which was produced in-house by Warner Bros. Montreal, Arkham Knight will once again be brought to you by the original Arkham pioneers: Rocksteady Studios. Their innovative work on Arkham Asylum and Arkham City should instill enough faith into anyone that this next-gen Batman game will be one for the ages (again).

And the innovation just keeps coming. City brought an open world style of gameplay, and Knight will build on that by expanding the size of the open world, plus adding a drivable Batmobile used for traversing the landscape and chasing down super villains.

One of the first true next gen incentives is on the horizon. If you don't own a high-powered PC, and don't yet own an Xbox One or PS4, later this year just might be the time to hit the switch on that decision.
