'Batlefield 3' brings in the New Year with Premium double XP

Bringing in the New Year typically means friends, food, fireworks and college football bowl games. For "Battlefield 3" Premium subscribers it means five days of double XP for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC shooter starting on Tuesday, New Year's Day.

Premium subscribers to "Battlefield 3" can enjoy double XP from Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. EST through Saturday, Jan. 5 at 9 a.m. EST. The bonus experience points can be earned in all ranked maps and modes across all three platforms.

"Battlefield 3" PC owners who currently don't have a Premium subscription can get it half off at Amazon as part of a 2012 Editor's Choice deal that was launched Tuesday as well. The Premium subscription grants early access to all five DLC add-ons - "Back to Karkand", "Close Quarters", "Armored Kill", "Aftermath" and "End Game".

"Aftermath" is the latest expansion released with "End Game" due out in March with the return of Capture the Flag.
