News leaked today through UNLVTickets.com that former WWE Champion Batista is due to return to WWE . UNLVTickets handles online ticket sales for arenas in the Las Vegas area including the Thomas & Mack Center which is hosting a WWE live event on February 16th. The website is officially advertising "special return of 'The Animal' Batista". WWE sources confirmed to Wrestlezone today that the advertisement is not a mistake and the return is legitimate.

UPDATE: Two former WWE Champions are now rumored to be returning with Batista in the 2014 Royal Rumble, read the news in this link.

February 16th is a Sunday and this is not a televised event for WWE. This could indicate that an official return by Batista could be on either a pay per view event like Royal Rumble at the end of January or on live TV on Monday Night RAW.

This is a huge return for WWE with Dave Bautista being one of the company's biggest talents in the past 10 years. Batista has won the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships and has been feuded with John Cena, the Undertaker, Triple H, and many of the biggest stars in pro wrestling.

Batista left the WWE amicably in 2010, where he moved on into acting in feature films and dabbling in Mixed Martial Arts. The Animal has been rumored to have been discussions with WWE executive Triple H about a possible return engagement for a few months now.

The time of this return is also intriguing as Batista will get back into the mix of WWE just as it gets on the road to Wrestlemania, the company's biggest event of the year. If you also factor an anticipated launch of the WWE Network, a 24/7 video subscription service and the company working on a new TV deal which could be worth hundreds of millions. Insiders are speculating that WWE injecting a movie star monster like Batista back into the roster at this time is a smart and on-the-ball move.
