Season 2 of "Bates Motel" is about to end but not before showing us a much darker version of Norman. In the final episode of the season, Norman starts to realize what kind of monster he becomes during his blackout periods. On Saturday, Hollywood Hills released some information on the upcoming episode entitled "The Immutable Truth."
Norman wants answers
In the tenth episode of season 2, a trailer newly released by A&E shows Norman holding a gun on his mother Norma. It looks as if he just might shoot her. Norman tells his mother, "I didn't mean to hurt you but I am gonna do this." He has been trying to get Norma to tell him what she knows of his mental condition but she won't budge.
Executive producer Kerry Ehrin explains that Norman Bates suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. Flashbacks during season 2 have shown pieces of Norman's abnormal childhood that may have led up to his mental issues. When facing Cody's drunk father, Norman flashed back to a memory of his own father in a similar condition. He remembered his mother hiding with him and trying to keep him quiet.
Norman starts to remember
Norman is finally starting to realize that his abnormality is violent and dark. When trapped underground by Nick Ford, he has flashbacks to things he has done when not himself. He realizes that he was more involved with Blair Watson than he realized. Norman has flash backs of the night Ms. Watson died and he recalls her seduction, his hallucinations of his mother and then the shocking details of taking a knife to her throat.
Norman's episodes are starting to take the shape of a dangerous personality disorder in which he becomes aggressive and violent but has no recollection at all. It's obvious that his mood changes take place when under great stress as shown in episode 9 when he was trapped and goes into the same trance-like state that we've seen before. Norman's confinement seems to have triggered the memories he had locked away. Will he remember everything or just bits and pieces?
An end to the drug war
Dylan, fresh from the murder of Nick Ford, has his own mess to deal with. Together, he and Romero must find a way to end the drug war and bring peace back to both families. The killing of Ford could only help in that respect. As well, it will get Ford off Norma's back and possibly save Norman's life after Ford found Watson's pearls in his possession.
An ending with clarity
It looks like season 2 will end with some things tied up nicely. From screenshots of "Bates Motel" episode 2x10 that have been leaked, Norman will be taking a lie detector test. It is unclear if we will find out the results in the finale or will have to wait until season 3. Will Norman pass the lie detector test? Is Dylan going to end the drug war and come out a hero? And for the biggest question of all, will Norman shoot his mother? Tune in for the season 2 finale of A&E's "Bates Motel airing Monday at 10 p.m. EST to find out.
