The second season of the highly anticipated A&E drama "Bates Motel," debuted on Monday, March 3 and the episode turned up the drama from last season. The town of White Pine Bay is mourning the death of the beloved teacher Miss Blair Watson, and that's not the only tragedy. The episode features a time jump, Norman continuing to act strangely and even a murder.
The episode opens much like the pilot, with Norman (Freddie Highmore) laying on his bed before the phone rings. It's the school system informing parents that Miss Watson was killed and school is canceled so students can attend the funeral. Norman recollection of that night is hazy at best, and he is openly weeping at the funeral which makes everyone around him uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, Bradley Martin (Nicola Peltz) is more determined that ever to find out who murdered her father, to the point that she drinks and drives and then decides to jump off a bridge. Fast forward four months and Bradley is being released from a mental institution, which Norman is happy about since she never answered any of his letters. Norma (Vera Farmiga) is happy because the hotel is full of travelers for the summer season.
Norman goes to visit Miss Watson's grave only to discover a stranger standing at the grave, so he takes pictures and immediately heads to see Sheriff Ramero. He is suspicious of why Norman is so attached to Miss Watson and later tells Norma to get him a new hobby. Norma is busy discovering that the bypass is being built, so she goes to a city council meeting to try and stop it, only to be blown off and insult the officials for allowing the town to be run by drugs.
Gil advises Dylan (Max Thieriot) to keep Bradley away from him and the business so she stops asking questions about her father. When Dylan warns Bradley to stay away she just brushes him off and goes to see Gil at his house. She offers to sleep with him for information about who killed her father, only to pull out a gun she found in her dad's office box and kill Gil. The last shot is Bradley in Norman's room asking for his help.
"Bates Motel" airs on Monday nights at 10 p.m. on A&E. Tune in to find out how the murder plays out and whether or not Norman will help Bradley. Someone was killed in the pilot episode as well and that murder wasn't resolved fully until the season finale nine episodes later.
