The next episode of "Bates Motel" is the season finale and things with Norman have really intensified since viewers first met him. On April 28, Zap2It posted some spoilers for the upcoming episode, titled "The Immutable Truth." According to the report, the season 2 finale will focus on Miss Watson's murder.
On the last episode, Norman was kidnapped and while he was being held in a small space underground, he had a lot of time to think. His mind started going back to the night he was with Miss Watson. His mother, Norma Bates, appeared in his memory or daydream (whichever one it may be) and told him that he knew what he needed to do. It was very similar to the "Psycho" movie, as far as his reason for killing is concerned.
However, even though it seems like Norman Bates may be guilty of killing his teacher, Miss Watson, did he really do it or are fans being led in a different direction? Sometimes the latter is the case, but based on what executive producer Carlton Cuse had to say, Norman in fact might be as guilty as he appears to be. He said,
"The character's self-knowledge is a huge factor in how he moves forward. We're going to jump right into the heart of those questions in the finale."
Actor Freddie Highmore also had something to say about the character of Norman. He said that viewers should question their support of him by the end of the final episode. In "The Immutable Truth," Norman will make a selfish decision. This decision may or may not cause viewers to be so supportive of Norman.
As for his mother, Norma, will she remain by her son's side when the truth comes out? Viewers have already seen the type of relationship they have. While she may not agree or even like some of the things he does, she is very much a protective mother. But will this be too much for her? Highmore said that the season finale could cause the two characters to cross the point of no return and that their relationship will evolve over time.
It was also revealed that there may be some bad things ahead for the mother and son. Cuse also said that there might be a bad ending to Norma and George's relationship. In the season finale of "Bates Motel," fans will see where it leads and how Norma ends up because of it.
The "Bates Motel" season 2 finale will air Monday night and the show has been renewed for a third season. What do you think is going to happen on the final episode and do you have any theories for season 3?
