For the second year, Bassnectar and Pretty Lights came to the Hampton Coliseum for a two night experience. Both shows were sold out. Bassnectar and Pretty Lights played both nights with various supporting acts throughout the weekend.
Electronic Dance Music (EDM) has a huge following and the culture among concert goers is a dynamic one. Not only do these fans travel many miles to experience a show like this, they come ready to dance and dress the part. I have been to my share of shows but I have not quite experienced anything like this group of fans.
The music is loud, very loud. The expression people use that they can feel the music might not have had EDM in mind. You can literally feel the music inside of you, the vibrations, the BASS. You know it is loud when you are in the pit taking pictures and your hair is moving. I believe that this is one of the draws for the fans. You can literally feel the music all around you. I believe another draw is a sense of community. There is a welcoming feeling and a no judgement mentality. The people that were at the show caught my attention because they really did express the emotion of joy.
The slideshow is more about the people at the show. I do not personally know any of them but felt drawn to capture them and the essence of the show. Check the pics out.
