Nothing is more magical than entering a museum filled with impressionistic art. You are surrounded by a world of magnificent beauty and an abundance of expression. The Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach is one such museum that can transport you to this pleasing place.
As we all know, fashion and art go hand in hand. This coming Wednesday evening, March 12, 2014, the spotlight will remain fixated on the Bass Museum of Art as a black tie gala takes place to celebrate 'A Night At The Museum'. From 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the annual fundraiser will get underway as a tribute to the world of fashion and art. We will welcome an enticing exhibition called Vanitas: Fashion and Art which will be on display from March 13, 2014 through July 20, 2014 there at the museum. For those who are interested in fashion as a vanitas means of expression, this is one exhibition that you must visit.
The symbolic nature of art is brought out in avant garde ready-to-wear and haute couture, the cream of the fashion world. Combined with the many facets of fashion will be contemporary paintings, sculptures, industrial design and new media. Fashion trends are quick to come and go and we seem to, at times, judge others by their wardrobe. Fashion can be somewhat materialistic at times. Therefore, this is the perfect medium for Vanitas: Fashion and Art to tell that story. It is a wide subject matter to convey through artwork. Many contemporary designers and artists will be displaying their work.
This exhibition becomes ever so special with the guest curator being Harold Koda who is recognized for his work as Curator-In-Charge of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
In addition, the Bass Museum of Art will put their distinct style on Vanitas: Fashion and Art by incorporating a variety of their notable and historic frames into the entire installation for a more interactive experience between the viewer and the actual artwork so they may build their own interpretation.
The Bass Museum of Art is located at 2100 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. (305) 673.7530.
There are tickets still available for the Wednesday evening gala. Go to http://www.bassmuseum.info/2011fundraiser.php and buy your tickets for an evening that you will never forget. Some of the gracious supporters making this all possible are Escada, Miami Design District and Perrier.
