Today “Basketball Wife” Tami Roman shares some unfortunate news: her mother Nadine Buford has passed away. Buford died on July 23rd , although details of her illness are unclear at this time. However, approximately three months prior, Roman announced that Nadine had been admitted to the hospital with a severe condition. This morning on Twitter, Tami offered these words to her fans: “Thank you to EVERYONE for your condolences and prayers – its [sic] a difficult time for our family but we are finding our way – Blessings.” Fans and well-wishers posted their condolences and messages of support.
Roman is notorious for her feisty personality and has even drawn ire from fans who ridiculed her violent behavior on VH1 hit “Basketball Wives.” Some fans even threatened to boycott the show as a result of the women’s constant squabbling. In March 2012 on the reality program, Tami ultimately addressed her anger issues, revealing that she’d been twice raped and had kept it a secret. Indeed, Tami is no stranger to reality TV. In 1993, she was featured on MTV’s “The Real World: Los Angeles” – making headlines even then for her hotheadedness. During an incident on the program (aptly called “The Blanket Incident”) Roman becomes livid when male housemates play tug-of-war with her blankets, revealing her nearly nude body. Roman later cited her abuse issues as the reason for her fiery reaction.
Tami discussed her problems with Nadine, who was also featured in an episode on the popular VH1 reality show. She and her daughter delved into these touchy topics during a particularly sensitive episode. Tami revealed that she had begun seeking therapy to deal with old wounds. However, it appears that she and her mother had made peace with their rocky past. “My pain runs deep, my heart aches, my soul mourns…My mother is no longer with me and I may never be the same.” Tami added beneath a photo on Instagram of her and Nadine.
