Basilica Guards from 'Gatecrash' revealed

Drakewing Krasis is one of the latest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled today from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash."

Basilica Guards - 2W
Creature - Human Soldier (Common)
Defender
Extort (Whenever you cast a spell, you may pay [W/B]. If you do, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain that much life.)

"None may pass . . . for free."
1/4

Basilica Guards costs half of Treasury Thrull, getting onto the battlefield quickly so that you can begin extorting your opponents right away.

Extort may seem mediocre in simple one on one matches, however the power of Bascilica Guards quickly scales in large multiplayer matches of Commander where it'll be possible to gain five or more life every time you use it.

Revealed today in an article by the staff of MagicTheGathering.com, it doesn't matter that Basilica Guards has defender and can't attack. That's because you'll be able to whittle your adversary's life total away one point at a time. Basilica Guards should block most early threats in limited thanks to its large toughness of four.

How will you use Basilica Guards?
