Basil’s Buddies announces events for March 2013

Downriver Animal welfare organization Basil’s Buddies has a couple of events coming up in March. The first event is a low cost pet vaccination clinic, and the second is a kid’s story time and craft day.

The low cost vaccine clinic will be held on Friday, March 1, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Tiny Paws Pet Grooming, 13498 Dix, in Southgate. Vaccines will be available for both dogs and cats. A record of previous vaccination is required for the 3 year rabies vaccine. Prices are as follows:

Dogs

Bordetella - $15

Distemper (DAPP with Lepto) - $20

Leptospirosis (4 way) - $15

Lyme - $25

Rabies (1 yr) - $15

Rabies (3 yr) - $15

Heartworm testing (dogs only) - $20

Cats

Feline Rabies (1 yr only) non-adjuvanted - $20

Leukemia - $20

RCP - $15

Heartworm preventative is available for dogs and cats. A heartworm test or (results of current heartworm test results from a veterinarian) is required to purchase heartworm preventative for dogs.

Basil’s Buddies chairman Patti Radakovich will also be hosting a special “Easter Storytime and Craft Day” on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Total Health Foods, 2938 Biddle, in Wyandotte. Patti will read her children’s story The Easter Chinchilla, the tale of Inca, a chinchilla who doesn’t quite fit in. The book will be available for purchase after the reading, and a portion of the proceeds will go to support Basil’s Buddies.
